Cape Town best known as the Mother City is South Africa's oldest city and a world  class city full of adventure. It is a city with breathtaking scenery and is home to the Table Mountain which recently earned a place as the new seven wonders of nature. It is also home to the South African parliament and has become the continental leader in the provision of high quality tertiary education relevant to the demands of a rapidly globalizing , competitive and information driven world. However , Cape Town is the most unequal city in the world owing to imbalances created by Apartheid that left the majority on the fringe of the mainstream economy . After 1994 , a vibrant civil society was born to address the above on many social fronts which makes South Africa in general and Cape Town in particular the best and the exciting place to be a volunteer , intern or student .
