VETAD is a social investment enterprise based  in the majestic city of Cape Town South Africa. It aims to enable Africa reaching the millennium development goals through various educational and empowerment mechanisms.  We have made the tip of Africa the center of Africa for two obvious reasons:

- Host  of Africa premier universities : the University of Cape Town, Witwatersrand,  and the Stellenbosch University.

-Africa world tourist destination ( millions of visitors come to Cape Town every year)

Our Goals

The overall goals is a consolidated plan  to enable Africa harness and apply science, technology and related innovations to eradicate  poverty and achieve sustainable  development to ensure that Africa contributes to the global pool of scientific knowledge and technological innovations.

About us

 In the South African  context , the legacy of apartheid recent past has left the majority of the population on the fringe of the mainstream economy either because of lack of skills or  paralysed by poverty or simply structured rigidities in the system.  After  1994 , a vibrant civil society was born to address the imbalances of apartheid  on many social fronts which makes South Africa the most exciting place to be a volunteer or  intern because  of the wide range of militant non-governmental organizations which have over years benchmarked global  best practices in the civil society sector.

 

We, at VETAD believe that access to knowledge holds the key to Africa’s future and education remains the captsotne of any society. Since education remain unaccessible to the majority therefore access to economic opportunitie are limited reason why we have designed our services to include support to those unable to access mainstream education through other mechanisms such as :

 

  • Volunteer and Internship programme:

  • Education support programme

  • Training programme

  • Access to work programme

  • and others

In the  four last decades, many poor countries around the world has achievd emerging economy  status because they have embraced education and techonological innovations developed in recent years. Unfortunately the majority of African countries are still lagging behind and have not achieved substantial progress in that direction. The continent is still grappling wiith endemic corruption , civil strife and low investment in education. However , Africa is slowly adopting and using telechnology with impact on poor people livelihoods.
